Step One:
There is a minimum charge of $2000.00 on all projects. There is a $50.00 non refundable consultation fee. During the consultation visit we will look over reference material related to the subject matter you desire to see included in the mural. We will discuss color pallets, themes, focal points and explore the possibilities for the space. All of this information is crucial for me to obtain, in order that I might began to sort through my options for painting your space.
I realize that we are all very busy and life is pulling us in different directions. However, the process of painting a mural requires some participation on your part. With each mural I do I feel as though I am standing at the bottom of a tall latter. You are always one step ahead of me and I am following you to the top. Your input along the way is very crucial, it is what allows me to continue up the latter. I am not painting what I desire to see on your wall. I am painting what you desire to see. I am very open to change and suggestions early on and even during the actual painting process. It is a great compliment to me when you trust that I can paint, but in order to see what you are imaging requires some input. Nothing is more gratifying to me than to reach the top of the latter with you and know that you have received a custom work of art, that reflex who you are, and includes the important elements suggested by you.
Step Two:
A ballpark estimate will be provided 2-5 days after our meeting. If you are happy with the ideas and quote, and if you desire to move forward an additional $100.00 is due. The $100.00 collected is also non refundable and is conceder as payment for all prep-work prior to execution of the mural, such as drawings; and research. The funds received will also save you a spot on the calendar, and at this time, a tentative date will be scheduled. Upon completion of the designs, you will be supplied with detailed black and white drawings and a final estimate. If during the process of drawing and research you determine that you do not wish to move forward, please remember that the $100.00 fee is non refundable. It is considered spent on preparations prior to painting.
Step Three:
Once all
changes, if any, are made to the designs and the drawings are to your
satisfaction, some
room preparation may be required prior to painting. Area to be painted must be
free of furniture, shelving, curtains, and all other obstacles. If the space to
be painted is tight, some large furnishing such as bed and or large dressers may
need to be stored in another room as well. During the process of
painting I often need to step back away from the wall, therefore I require at least
6 feet of observation distance from area to be painted. I understand that some
furnishing such as that found in a restaurant may be stationary and will not be
moved. However as much as possible I do request an area free of obstacles that
could prevent me from painting effectively.
Often I am able to paint directly on existing painted surfaces, this will be determined upon initial consultation. On occasion I may suggest walls to be prepped with a fresh coat of paint preferably an eggshell or satin sheen. Acrylics require a little tooth in order to adhere to the surface hence No Simi-gloss and or gloss paints will be suitable.
Step Four:
50% of the
total cost is due on the first day painting begins. Changes to the mural once
the process has begun may result in a change order as well as additional fees. The
remaining balance, depending on the size of the project, may remain due until completion of the mural.
However if I determine that the mural is extensive and may take some time to
complete, the remaining balance may be broken down into weekly installments to
be received on a weekly bases until completion.
A mural in progress should be conceder a hazardous location for pets and children, I enjoy their company but become very nervous about the possibility of an accidents such as paint spills . Please feel free to bring children in to see the progress but do not leave them in the area to be painted unattended. I desire your input and do not mind you coming in during the day to discuss the progress and communicate any concerns or ideas that are forming as the mural takes shape.
Step Five:
Please note that although you own the space to which a mural has been painted, you do not however own the copyright to the art work . I am not sharing this information to sound arrogant or proud of my work but rather to inform you that it is not permissible to reproduce the art work you have received. All art work has a copyright, and cannot be reproduced for any purpose without prior written consent from the artist (Melaney Bracken). Just as you are not able to buy a canvas painting or even a printed work of art and reproduce it, because the copyright to that work of art does not belong to you, a mural obtains the same rules, it is just a much larger form of art and happens to be painted on a surface that belongs you. It is really quite simple if you conceder it for what it is (a work of art). Reproduction of works of art without permission will result in legal actions and fines. Please feel free to contact me if for any reason you are unsure regarding the copyright of your mural.
Thank you for considering a mural and I look forward to working with you.
